Recently, The New Yorker magazine published an article by Seymour Hersh about the Bush Administration's plans to attack Iran, possibly including some use of nuclear weapons to take out underground facilities.
President Bush called it "wild speculation" and seemed quite agitated. I read the article, and it does not seem to me that Mr. Hersh was engaging in any "wild speculation." I suggest that you read it for yourself at:

Personally, I believe that Isaiah 29:5, 6 is a prophecy describing a nuclear blast on the city of Jerusalem. So to me, it is only a matter of WHEN, not IF. The Bible's focus on Jerusalem could well be why the Israelis are so up-tight about this. After all, they have the same book of Isaiah in their possession, and surely someone has actually read it. Perhaps this explains their angst more than anything, though they have a long history of trying to figure out ways to thwart God's judgment. Zionism itself is just such an attempt by tricky legal manuevers in the divine court. I have written of this in the past.
Many Christians don't seem to mind this threat if they believe they will be taken out of here in a "rapture" before it happens. If President Bush feels the same way, it could explain why he lives so close to the red button. There are Christian Zionists out there who are doing everything they can to push for the most extreme Zionist agenda, hoping to force the situation into an all-out War of Armageddon. That way, they believe, Jesus will be forced to return to save the Jews from total extermination--although in the mean time, they believe that there will be only 144,000 Jewish survivors.
And so they enthusastically pay for plane tickets for Jews to move to "Israel," so that they can be wiped out. It is the Judas Factor in operation. And I find it interesting also that recently the so-called "Gospel of Judas" has been found and translated. It is a gnostic gospel, coming out of the deserts of Egypt, written about 300 years after the time of Judas. But I consider it to be an interesting sign of the times. It is a sign of the new Judases that have arisen, the new follower of Jesus who betrays Him with a kiss in hopes that it would force Jesus to do a miracle and save Himself, thus proving Himself to be the true Messiah.
I refer to Christian Zionists, who is modern Judas, attempting to do the same thing today, bringing the world to the brink of disaster in order to force Jesus' hand. All done from a safe distance in heaven, of course, since they expect to be raptured out of here.
I do what I can to counter such stuff, but I am only one small voice. And I recognize that in the overall plan of God, Judas was necessary to fulfill a purpose that even Judas himself did not know. Likewise, it is with the Christian Zionists. They are actors on the stage in God's Great Play of History. They view themselves as the good guys, Jesus' "friend," even as Judas did (Matt. 26:50), not realizing that only a friend can betray someone. What will they do when they find themselves still here to see the results of their false belief system? Will they hang themselves, as Judas did?
In my view, we ought to do something to prepare ourselves for the coming nuclear strike. The primary preparation is spiritual, of course. Learning the Scriptures is the most important thing, because hope is the most important commodity in despair.
The world is not going to be destroyed. The same Bible that prophesies nuclear destruction upon Jerusalem says that the greatest Age is yet to come. It will not be lived underground or in some scenario of a cheap futuristic movie. It will be the Kingdom of God. This is a matter of faith to me.
But in a more practical vein, there are some simple steps that a person can take that can make life much better in the event of a nuclear strike. It is helpful to know that the first casualty of a nuclear strike--for those not in the actual strike zone--is the human thyroid gland. The radioactive iodine spread around the globe by the winds is readily absorbed by the thyroid, which is thirsty for iodine. It gets saturated by the radioactive stuff and immediately destroys it, much like a medical doctor will do by radiating the thyroid in cases of overactive thyroid.
If you want to keep your thyroid, so you won't have to take thyroid tablets for the rest of your life (or until Jesus comes), it would be a good idea to have a few bottles on hand of Potassium Iodide or, preferably, Potassium Iodate. These are designed to saturate your thyroid gland with non-radioactive iodine, so that, like a sponge, it can't absorb any more. Hence, it will not absorbe the bad stuff as long as it is saturated with harmless iodine.
The American government and other governments around the world are currently stockpiling Potassium Iodide and Iodate, causing shortages in the marketplace. In other words, prices are going up. The American government has plans to stockpile it around every nuclear power plant in America in case of nuclear accident or a terror incident that may release radioactive gas in America. Problem is, if such an incident occurs, how are they going to get it from the warehouse to the household before the dangerous gas hits the metro centers?
In case of such a scenario, everyone ought to have their own tablets, rather than depend on the government. Remember Katrina. Don't depend on the government to save you. They will always be too late with too little help. Their plan is to distribute the pills using the mail man, and give everyone about a two-day supply. Problem is, you will need at least a 45-day supply, because that is the half-life of radioactive iodine. So the government plan is to keep you alive an extra two days! Sounds like a usual FEMA plan.
For those of you who want to take responsibility for your own safety and well being, we have a source for Potassium Iodate and can offer it to you at a low cost. They come in bottles of 180 tablets each--a 45 day supply. In case of nuclear strike, an adult should take 2 tablets per day for 45 days. Children should take half the dosage by breaking the tablets in half. Pets can also be given these tablets, unless you don't need to keep them alive.
The number of bottles you will need depends on how many members in your family, and if you intend to help out any ignorant friends, relatives, or neighbors who did not prepare themselves.
We will send an instruction sheet with the bottles. Put the bottles on the shelf and consider them to be a cheap form of nuclear or thyroid insurance. You should also consider having other anti-oxidants such as Vitamins A, C, and E for the rest of your body as it combats the effects of radiation. But you can all get those at the local store, so we don't offer them.
Each bottle of Potassium Iodate is $20.00. Add $5 per order for postage, regardless of the amount you order.
