We have taken the five ministry gifts (Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles) as an outline for the courses of Bible study in this School.
Our purpose is to equip those who are ministering with a knowledge of the Word, so that each will be more effective in fulfilling his or her calling.
Learn MoreYesterday, Pope Benedict XVI announced his early retirement, shocking much of the world.
Within a few hours, lightning struck the basilica in the Vatican. That is an interesting sign.

There is already speculation about who will succeed Pope Benedict. In light of St. Malachy's prophecy from 1140 AD, I am not sure that anyone will want the job. However, insiders are listing about eight major contenders for the position, speculating also that they might choose a non-European for the first time in history. This is because church membership is declining rapidly in Europe, but it is increasing in Africa and South America. And so Peter Turkson from Ghana is being mentioned.
He is the only front-runner with the name "Peter." Do you suppose he might become "Peter the Roman" in St. Malachy's prophecy? Be watchful.
Over the years many have identified this "Peter the Roman" with "The Antichrist." I myself do not hold to the Futurist view of prophecy, so I think that most "Antichrist" views are based on a false premise. The original Antichrist was Absalom, who usurped David's throne as an "Anti-David." I have written about this elsewhere. You can use the Search key and type in "Absalom" or "Antichrist" to get past articles where this has been mentioned.
If you look at the prophecy itself, you will see that whoever Peter the Roman is, it says nothing about this "Peter" being a bad guy or an Antichrist. It only says that he will reign during a time of tribulation, and afterward the city will be destroyed.
In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The end.
Nonetheless, there is no doubt that these are momentous events, and we should be aware and watchful.
Dr. Stephen Jones has been writing blog posts since 2005 on a variety of topics from Bible Studies to World News, and he has been writing books since 1992. Dr. Jones' most important writings came after God brought him back into the full-time ministry in 1991. It is here that all his earlier years of searching the Scriptures began to come into clear focus. He combines a knowledge of the Old and New Testaments with a personal revelation of God that began and developed during the "wilderness" period of his life, which he often refers to as God's True Bible College...
