The fall of Mariupol

Mariupol is situated on the Black Sea on the south side of Donetsk, the breakaway republic on the eastern end of Ukraine. Yesterday the last survivors of the Ukrainian troops in Mariupol finally surrendered.

Donetsk and Luhansk provinces declared its independence after the US-led coup, which empowered the Azov (Nazi) militias to dominate the government. The new government in Ukraine immediately removed the Russian language from one of its official languages. This act was seen as an act of aggression against Ukraine’s large Russian-speaking population that is concentrated in the eastern half of Ukraine.

The Russian citizens of Crimea also voted overwhelmingly to break away and to become part of Russia. This saved the strategic Russian military base in Crimea on the Black Sea, which NATO had hoped to shut down in its war against Russia.

In February 2022, Russia pre-empted a large Ukrainian offensive against Donetsk and Luhansk by sending troops to support the breakaway republics. From there, they began to link Donetsk with Crimea. Recently, a major Russian offensive took place to take the city of Mariupol, which was necessary to form a continuous corridor.

Mariupol itself was taken by Russian troops weeks ago, but about 300 Azov troops retreated into the Azovstal Steelworks factory, where they remained trapped until yesterday. The Russian troops made no attempt to dislodge them, because they no longer posed a threat. Their patience was finally rewarded as the Azov troops eventually ran out of food and had to surrender.

Ukraine has confirmed that hundreds of its fighters trapped for more than two months in Mariupol's Azovstal steelworks have been evacuated.

Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar said 53 badly wounded soldiers were taken to the town of Novoazovsk, held by Russian-backed rebels.

She said another 211 were evacuated using a humanitarian corridor to Olenivka - also a rebel-held town.

Russia earlier said a deal had been reached to evacuate the injured troops.

About a dozen buses carrying Ukrainian fighters who were holed up beneath the besieged plant were seen leaving the huge industrial site in the southern port city on Monday evening, Reuters news agency reported.

Russian state-run media outlets also posted footage of what they say were injured Ukrainian soldiers being evacuated from Azovstal.

Note how the BBC was careful not to use the word “surrender.” They claim that this was merely an “evacuation” through “a humanitarian corridor.” Of course, the corridor led to Novoazovak and Olenivka, both being Russian-held territory. In other words, they are now prisoners of war.

In fact, the BBC even says this:

Ms Maliar said the troops would be exchanged for captured Russian soldiers.

That may indeed take place. But when nations make such trades, it is because they are trading prisoners of war. Why, then, is the BBC (and others in the mainstream media) so reluctant to call them POW’s and to admit that they surrendered?

In the past—when news was news and not just propaganda—newspapers would use proper terms to describe the reality of a given situation. Real journalism simply reported the facts without resorting to euphemisms and Orwellian newspeak.

ABC News made it sound like Ukraine was in control of the situation, saying that Ukraine gave the order to evacuate the Azov troops.

But Ukraine had no control over the situation. The Azov troops probably would have surrendered anyway, because to remain there would have meant a life sentence without supplies in the Azovstal Steelworks prison.

When journalists all claim it was an evacuation to Russian-held territory and studiously avoid the term surrender as prisoners of war, you know that there is no longer any independent journalism in today’s mainstream news. They all are following a script from their owners—all of whom are closely tied to Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum.

So we can learn a lot from these mainstream news reports, if we understand their hidden agenda. In earlier times, Rumplestiltskin spun straw into gold. Today’s journalists spin gold into straw, or news into propaganda.

I look forward to the establishment of Kingdom culture, where news gives the facts, where we know a woman by her biology and not by her mental state, where there are only two genders, where we once again use pronouns like him and her without being sued, where babies are not merely fetal tissue, where Christians are no longer classed as domestic terrorists, where riots are no longer “mostly peaceful protests,” where war is war and peace is peace, where evacuations into enemy territory are called surrender, and where the government does not control the definition of truth.
