The Oil Spill in the Gulf

The oil spill 42 miles from the Louisiana coast is turning out to be one of the greatest disasters in history. At first they reported that 1,000 barrels of oil were leaking each day. Since there are 42 gallons in a barrel, that was actually 42,000 gallons a day. Then the figure went up to 5,000 barrels, or 210,000 barrels per day.

The damaged rig in the Gulf, one of 3,000 offshore oil and gas platforms operating in the Gulf of Mexico that survived Hurricanes Katrina and Rita without major damage, is said to be leaking 210,000 gallons of oil per day. This is serious — but rare.

One report is saying that the destroyed oil rig has landed upon the hole upside down, 5000 feet below the surface of the Gulf. They say that it can only be capped by a nuclear device, and if this is not done, it will eventually pollute and destroy the entire ocean.

Others are claiming that this disaster was caused by international sabotage. I do not know the truth of its cause, but I would suggest selling any stock in BP before the company goes bankrupt paying for this spill.

I also find it significant that the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was 42 miles off the coast, as reported:

There are also 42 oil rigs drilling or doing upgrades in the Gulf:

There are 42 rigs either drilling or doing upgrades and maintenance in depths of 1,000 feet or greater in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the agency. They employ an estimated 35,000 people. Transocean has 14 rigs in the Gulf and 140 worldwide.

When we take note of the numbers themselves (42 and 210), this incident is taking on prophetic significance. Both 42 and 210 deal with the "time of Jacob's trouble" (Jer. 30:7). Jacob himself experienced 2 times of trouble, each 21 years long, for a total of 42.

Israel as a nation experienced two times of trouble in biblical history, each 210 years long, for a total of 420 years.

The year 2010 contains the number 210 as well, and this year is 210 years after Washington D.C. was built (completed in 1800). President Obama is the 42nd man to occupy the White House. While he is often referred to as the 44th president, he is actually the 43rd man to be president, since Grover Cleveland was the 24th and 26th president. And since our first president, George Washington never lived in the White House (because it was still being built during his term of office), John Adams was the first man to live in the White House. That means Barack Obama is the 42nd man to occupy the White House.

The number 42 is both a "tribulation" number (Rev. 13:5) and a number signifying the coming of Christ (Matt. 1:17).

Recall from earlier web logs that April 19/20 was one of our Watch Dates, because it is 1290 days from the final bowl that was poured out in Babylon, NY on October 7, 2006. It is also 3 x 490 days after Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was officially declared to be incapacitated by Parliament on April 11, 2006. (Ariel Sharon is a type of Jerusalem--Isaiah 29:1.)

The oil rig exploded on April 20. This coincided with revelation from April 19/20 about the "shepherds of Israel" not feeding the flock properly (Ezekiel 34).

So what does this disastrous oil spill mean prophetically? Well, first, I have always seen that crude oil is the opposite of olive oil. In other words, crude oil is a counterfeit sign of the Holy Spirit or divine anointing in general. Crude oil is also connected spiritually and even geographically to Apollyon/Abaddon, the Prince of Persia (Rev. 9:11). Even the 911 destruction of the Twin Towers is pictured by Rev. 9:11, because Abaddon means "destroyer."

Persia is said to be a "bear" in Dan. 7:5. The spiritual force behind Persia is Abaddon, so it is not surprising to see a very important Iranian city at the top of the Persian Gulf named Abadan.

This is also the second "bear" that I saw in my 1986 vision of the two Gulf Wars. (See my booklet by that title.)

So in putting all of these details together, it seems that the present oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is connected to the Gulf Wars in the Persian Gulf area. Because the timing of this disaster occurred on a Watch Date associated with Ariel Sharon, the prophetic type of Jerusalem (Isaiah 29:1), it is a sign of the soon-coming destruction of Jerusalem as Isaiah prophesied. That is, it represents the casting out of the bondwoman as per Gal. 4:30.

In that it is also connected to Babylon, NY by the 1290-day cycle from October 7, 2006, it is an indicator that the decree on that day, "It is done!" is coming to fulfillment. Babylon is falling to Persia. God is using Persia (on many levels) to overthrow the Babylonian system that has oppressed the world for a long time.

This is both good news and bad news, depending on how you look at it. There are difficult times ahead, but some chaos is to be expected when the world Babylonian government collapses. Yet it will not be so bad that everyone will starve or be killed. After all, Persia took Babylon intact. Only the king was killed (Dan. 5:30).

Another aspect of this is in the contrast between crude oil and olive oil. As I said earlier, crude oil signifies a counterfeit Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is called The Comforter in John 16:26,

"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

Islam teaches that the coming of their prophet Mohammed is what Jesus meant when He prophesied of the Comforter who was to come after Him. Obviously, we have a basic disagreement here. They would deny the validity of the above verse. To us, their "Comforter" is the counterfeit Holy Spirit, not only operating in Islam but also among any Christians who might manifest the counterfeit.

In connecting this with Ezekiel 34, it appears that the oil spill indicates this counterfeit among "the shepherds of Israel," who have abused the sheep. For this reason, Christ Himself is about to reverse this situation, fire the shepherds, and pour out His Holy Spirit in a genuine manner. This is why the oil spill is flowing toward the mouth of the "River of the Holy Spirit." There are two spirits competing here.
