When Barack Obama first gained national attention as a political candidate, we could not help but notice the similarity of his name to the biblical judge, Barak, who ended the Canaanite captivity with the help of Deborah in Judges 4.
The Hebrew word for Canaanite means "merchant or trader." A more modern term could be used-- "banker."

So when Barack Obama became president, we discerned that it would be under his administration that America's captivity to the banking system would come to an end, or at least be given a death-blow.
Two weeks ago, President Obama vetoed the secret banking bill that had been rammed through the House and Senate with no debate. While we have yet to see the full ramification of his veto, there is no doubt that it will have far-reaching consequences, because it put the entire mortgage system on notice that the banks will be held accountable for their actions.
It appears that the MERS system was created by the mortgage banks to save them time and money. They are supposed to register their ownership of the mortgages before they re-sell them to others, and each time they sell the mortgage, they are supposed to pay a "public recording fee" as part of our tax system. They decided to save money and avoid the tax by this MERS system by NOT recording their ownership of the property. Then later, they engaged in "robo-signing," wherein their Notaries forged the signatures of thousands of home-owners.
This has put their mortgage claims in jeopardy, and when they sold them to investors and pension funds, they sold what was not legally theirs. That was fraud, and it has put the entire mortgage and real estate industry in danger of collapse. (I call it a Jubilee, thank-you.)
MERS: We start with the Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems. MERS is a computer registry that was “created by lenders seeking to save millions of dollars on paperwork and public recording fees every time a loan changes hands.” It holds over 60 million mortgages on American homes. Thanks to a legal fiction that pretends to follow the law — but actually does not — MERS has saved banks more than $1 billion. It has also turned what was a very successful system of tracking who owns what property and making it easy to transfer into a dysfunctional nightmare.

In the New Testament we find that Jesus ran the money-changers (bankers) out of the temple twice. The first time was toward the start of His ministry (John 2:15); the second was the final week just before His crucifixion (Mark 11:15), when the chief priests decided that it was time to get rid of Him (11:18).
On the first occasion (John 2:17), He quoted from Psalm 69:9,
9 For the zeal [Heb. cana] of Thy house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach Thee have fallen on me.
On the second occasion (Mark 11:17), He quoted from Isaiah 56:7 and Jer. 7:11,
(Is. 56:7) . . . For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.
(Jer. 7:11) Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your sight?
For now, let us focus upon the first time Jesus threw out the religious bankers in John 2. This came shortly after the marriage feast of Cana, where Jesus had turned the water into wine (2:1-11). The way that John structured his gospel was to record eight miraculous signs, each followed by something else Jesus did or said, followed by teachings that would provide commentary on the sign preceding it.
In this case, He first changed the water to wine at CANA, and then, while casting out the bankers, quoted Psalm 69:9 which gave us the prophecy he was fulfilling. That verse spoke of CANA, or "zeal."
The implication is that the zeal of the Lord was in operation to cleanse the temple of its merchants, traders, or bankers, who had made the temple "a house of merchandise" (John 2:16). It was a play on the Hebrew word cana, "merchant," and it shows how the prophecy of Zechariah 14:21 is to be fulfilled. This says,
21 . . . And there will no longer be a Canaanite [merchant banker] in the house of the Lord of hosts in that day.
By relating the marriage feast of Cana to the cleansing of the temple through the cana (zeal) of the Lord, we can see that the transformation of our bodies from "water to wine" is how God cleanses our personal "temple," while at the same time the corporate temple must be cleansed of its money-motive, banking mentality.
In other words, the carnality of our flesh is matched by the corporate carnality of the body of Christ (Temple) in its current condition. Both are in need of cleansing, and this will be accomplished by the zeal of the Lord.
In His first coming, Jesus' "zeal" ultimately led to His crucifixion, as the prophecy of Psalm 69:9 indicated, "the reproaches of those who reproach Thee [God] have fallen upon me [Christ].
In other words, these merchant-banker-priests ("Canaanites") were reproaching God Himself by turning the temple into a den of robbers--so they took it out on Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Keep in mind also that Psalm 69 is one of the great prophecies of the crucifixion and of the conflict in general between Jesus and the temple priests.
4 Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head. [John 15:25]
21 They also gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.[Matt. 27:34]
25 May their camp be desolate; may none dwell in their tents, [Acts 1:20 re Judas; Matt. 23:38 re Jerusalem] 26 for they have persecuted him whom Thou Thyself hast smitten[Isaiah 53:4].
Jesus cast out the money-changers in His first coming, and it must occur again at His second appearance. We know this, because the marriage feast of Cana itself is prophetic of the atomic change that is to take place in our temple-bodies (1 Cor. 15:52), prophesied by the transformation of water to wine. This personal application is to be matched by the overthrow of Babylon in the economic world at large.
And that is where Barak, the biblical judge, rises to prominence as a type and shadow of America's captivity to the merchant-bankers ("Canaanites"). Barack Obama probably has no understanding of the way that God is using him, but that is normal in the divine plan. God loves to use people in the divine plan without their knowledge.
Cyrus the Persian king was called a "messiah" in Isaiah 45:1, even though he did not know God. Today we have Barack Obama who has been anointed by Rush Limbaugh as a "messiah," though in disparaging terms--and yet even Limbaugh himself does not know that he is prophesying. All the biblical judges were types of Christ in varying ways. So also is it again today, for it was Barack who vetoed the Interstate Recognition of Notarizations Act of 2009.
God has strange ways of fulfilling prophecy. He usually uses the most unlikely people. But He gets the job done.
