We arrived in Sacramento, CA late in the afternoon of June 18, 2009 (not June 19, as I wrote previously). We immediately met with the intercessors there and began to discuss and discern the things that God wanted us to do there in regard to the second beast (Pan).
Pan was the Greek name for the spirit behind the golden calf that Jeroboam had set up in the city of Dan. The Book of Enoch lists him as one of the leaders of the fallen angels on Mount Hermon when they took the daughters of men and brought forth giants (Genesis 6:1-4). Enoch 8:1, 2 says,
1. And Azâzêl taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony, and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures. 2. And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways.

At the base of Mount Hermon was the city of Dan, where the Grotto of Pan was located. It was called “the gates of Hades” and was the place Jesus pointed to when he said in Matthew 16:18, “the gates of Hades will not overpower it.”
Pan’s Hebrew name, mentioned in Leviticus 16:7, 8 was Azazel. It is usually translated “scapegoat,” but Azazel was actually a devil figure to whom the second goat was given.
7 He shall take the two goats and present them before Yahweh at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 8 Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats, one lot for Yahweh and the other lot for Azazel.
These instructions were given to Aaron, which he was to do on the Day of Atonement. Years later, Jesus was baptized on the Day of Atonement shortly after His 30th birthday. I believe that He was baptized while the first goat was being offered to Yahweh in the temple. He was then led into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil, perhaps being accompanied by the man leading the second goat that was to be given to Azazel.
Hence, the second goat being given to Azazel was fulfilled when “Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matthew 4:1). This is how the prophetic law must be interpreted. The idea of a “scapegoat” has little to do with it.
Our revelation in 2009 told us that Pan-Azazel had a counterfeit anointing of the feast of Tabernacles. The feast days provide us with the true path to glorification, but Azazel was the lawless path, a feeble attempt to fulfill the prophecy through lawless means. The event on Mount Hermon in Genesis 6:1-4 was therefore a counterfeit “sonship” movement. Angels representing themselves as “sons of God” attempted to fulfill the prophecies in a lawless manner.
That is why Jesus went to Mount Hermon to be transfigured. He was overcoming that which Azazel and his fellow angels had attempted to do lawlessly. Jesus had a heavenly Father and an earthly mother, but His virgin birth was done in the lawful manner. The angels that sinned tried to become fathers of the sons of God by taking the daughters of men in an unlawful manner.
Pan Confronted in 1997
Fred was leading that group of intercessors at the time. He told how he had physically confronted Pan 12 years earlier in 1997. Pan-Azazel appeared to him visibly in his apartment, and Fred said that he swung the sword of the Spirit, cutting off one of its horns. Azazel dropped to his knees and kicked the dresser so hard that he physically smashed one of the drawers before disappearing.
He and the group later made a trip north on Interstate 5 to the city of Redding, CA—near the Shasta Caverns, where we had just had our own encounter with Azazel. Fred and the group were led by the Spirit along a country road and came to a pasture of goats. The goats came running up to the fence, and one of them had just one horn. It was obviously representing Azazel, and so they were able to “finish the work,” spiritually cutting off the other horn of Azazel.
Anton LaVey died the next day, October 29, 1997. He had founded the Church of Satan on April 30, 1966. One of his daughters took credit for killing him with a curse, which made a great cover story; but that is not what actually happened. The fact is, the spirit empowering LaVey was Azazel; Azazel attacked the wrong person and lost the battle. LaVey was so intertwined with Azazel that he died as a result.
When my wife and I toured Shasta Caverns in June 2009, we did not know this story. We learned it only when we arrived in Sacramento the next day. Our meetings were held at the Hermann house, which suggested that we were meeting spiritually on Mount Hermon, which was biblically, Mount Sion (Deuteronomy 4:48). It was the place where the Father said of Jesus, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5).
The Sacramento Work
On June 20, 2009, after discussing the issue at hand thoroughly, we were led to go before the Divine Court and ask God to forgive the 42 “young lads” who had mocked Elisha and who had been “tore up” (wounded, or slashed) by the bear claws. This was done on the 42nd day from the Salt Covenant on May 10, having just come from the 42nd state (Washington).
Before leaving the next morning, June 21, 2009, Fred, David, and I were led to establish a unified front to finish the work against Pan-Azazel. This three-fold cord represented the law (me), the prophets (Fred), and the psalms (David) from a New Covenant perspective. We then drove to Ely, Nevada, where we spent the night.
But as a matter of interest, let us go back into church history to see how a believer in the early church dealt with Pan at “the gates of Hades” in Caesarea Philippi.
Disposing of Pan in Church History
In Book IV of my book, Lessons from Church History, I wrote this toward the end of chapter 11:
“Eusebius tells us of something that happened in Caesarea while he was a boy. A soldier named Marinus had served in the army with distinction, perhaps in the service of Valerian in the Persian war. As he was about to be promoted to Centurion, a rival stepped forward and accused Marinus of being a Christian. As a Christian, unable to sacrifice to Caesar, Marinus was not allowed to be an officer in the Roman army.
“The judge, whose name was Achaeus, asked Marinus about this, and Marinus told him that he was a Christian. The judge gave him three hours to rethink his beliefs. When Marinus returned, he firmly confessed himself to be a Christian, and so he was beheaded that day and promoted to a greater army of saints than the Roman army could have offered.
“Astyrius, a Roman Senator, witnessed this execution. He too was a Christian but highly honored by emperors. He picked up the body of the martyr, placed it on a magnificent robe, and gave him an honorable burial. This same man, Astyrius, was known for a prayer of spiritual warfare that he did near a different Caesarea on the slopes of Mount Hermon in northern Palestine. Eusebius tells us in Eccl. Hist. VII, xvii,
“Near Caesarea Philippi, called Paneas by the Phoenicians, on the skirts of the mountain called Paneum, they point to springs believed to be the source of the Jordan. Into these they say that on a certain feast day a victim is thrown, and that by the demon's power it disappears from sight miraculously. This occurrence strikes the onlookers as a marvel to be talked of everywhere. One day Astyrius was there while this was going on, and when he saw that the business amazed the crowd, he pitied their delusion, and looking up to heaven, pleaded through Christ with God who is over all to refute the demon who was deluding the people and stop them from being deceived. When he had offered this prayer, it is said that the sacrifice instantly came to the surface of the water. Thus their miracle was gone, and nothing marvelous ever again happened at that spot.”
“This was the place where Peter had given his great confession of faith in Matthew 16:16, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus responded, saying,
17 Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it.
“These words were spoken at the cavern under the great rock where this “demon” (or prehistoric creature?) had been living. It was known as “the gates of Hell” (i.e., Hades) and the home of Pan. Astyrius engaged in some spiritual warfare and put an end to the worship of Pan at that place. It is today known by its Arabic name, Baneas, and is a World Heritage park at the foot of Mount Hermon, the mountain on which Jesus was transfigured in Matthew 17.”
(End of Quotation)
Whatever creature had occupied the Grotto of Pan, Astyrius’ spiritual warfare ended the “sightings” of this creature. We do not know if it was some prehistoric creature or something more supernatural. History only tells us that it never appeared again.
We also took note that 3½ years after our own action in Sacramento would fall on December 21, 2012, a date that was already said to be the end of an age on the Mayan calendar.
