We have taken the five ministry gifts (Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles) as an outline for the courses of Bible study in this School.
Our purpose is to equip those who are ministering with a knowledge of the Word, so that each will be more effective in fulfilling his or her calling.
Learn MoreIf you have been following my reports for the last 6 months, you know that I was diagnosed with diabetic amyotrophy, a rare condition that affects less than one percent of diabetics. In this nerve condition, the muscles are affected and begin to atrophy for months. Then at some point the condition reaches a plateau, neither worsening nor improving, before starting to heal. The whole process usually takes a year or more.
For the past few months, I have been in the plateau stage, wondering when my leg muscles would improve. I have done physical therapy exercises daily to help strengthen the muscles without noticing any improvement.
Well, the month of June has definitely turned this around. It really began June 2, when I got back my voice. Recall that last December 23 I had back surgery, which did not really address the underlying problem. During the surgery, they inserted a tube down my throat, and this did some damage to my voice box. Talking was a strain. After 5 months of this, I began to wonder if this would be a permanent injury. But I awoke on the morning of June 2 and discovered that my normal voice had returned.
About the same time, I noticed that one of my weakest muscles, the adductor on my left leg, had been strengthened and was the same strength as my right leg.
This week I noticed that my quads were getting stronger, so my legs could carry about half my weight as I stood up from a sitting position. Likewise, my “core” was stronger and more stable.
So I conclude that I have passed the plateau stage and have begun the uphill climb toward full healing. This will still take a few months, unless I see some direct divine intervention, but I am encouraged by my progress. My blood sugar has come under control, though I am still not fully back to normal. I am being helped by natural therapies along with two pharmaceuticals.
My wife and 6 children have been very helpful during these past months. I am more fortunate than most people. The three boys live with us, helping me with daily needs. The three girls are all in the health field, and although they live out of state, they have also been very helpful. Hopefully, I will be able to travel soon to Arkansas to meet our latest great-granddaughter, who was born last October. She took her first steps last week.
By the way, we have a great-grandson coming soon as well. We continue to be greatly blessed.
Dr. Stephen Jones has been writing blog posts since 2005 on a variety of topics from Bible Studies to World News, and he has been writing books since 1992. Dr. Jones' most important writings came after God brought him back into the full-time ministry in 1991. It is here that all his earlier years of searching the Scriptures began to come into clear focus. He combines a knowledge of the Old and New Testaments with a personal revelation of God that began and developed during the "wilderness" period of his life, which he often refers to as God's True Bible College...
