This past weekend, the world came very close to the start of a world war involving Russia and NATO. The crisis came as the US and the UK were about to give Ukraine permission to use long-range missiles to strike deep into Russia. Russian president Putin then issued a warning that if Ukraine launched such missiles into Russia, they would consider NATO to be at war with Russia and would act appropriately.
The US and UK immediately backed down from the brink. Hopefully, they will see that Putin was not bluffing. If they cross this red line, events could very quickly escalate into a full nuclear war which no one would win.
Scott Ritter, the former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, was very alarmed about this. He sees the destruction of the world as a very real possibility.

We ourselves, who believe Scripture, know that the world is not slated for destruction but for the emergence of the Kingdom of God. But not everyone has that hope.
The fact is, both NATO and Russia believe that they are fighting an existential war in Ukraine. NATO wants Ukraine to join NATO, so it can plant nuclear missiles within a few hundred miles from Moscow, and this is totally unacceptable to Russia. Such missiles would give Moscow only a few minutes’ warning if they were launched, and this would force them to respond immediately. There would be no time to ascertain whether or not it were a false alarm.
As for NATO, their desire to expand eastward to threaten Russia was an aggressive move that was never based on Russia being an existential threat to Europe. It was all unnecessary from the start. But their insistence, along with Ukraine’s open policy of oppressing its Russian population from 2014-2022, finally provoked Russia into intervening militarily in Ukraine in 2022.
For eight years NATO trained Ukraine’s military in preparation for joining NATO, making them the strongest army in Europe. But Russia destroyed that army within a year, and Ukraine had to obtain new recruits to replace them. NATO continued to back Ukraine to the point where it could no longer back down without suffering a humiliating defeat by Russia. The prospect of such a defeat made it so that NATO considers this war to be existential to itself as well.
So now we have both sides facing an existential threat. If either side feels like they are about to lose the conventional war, they will feel the need to use nuclear weapons. With Russia clearly winning the war on the battlefield, NATO leaders are increasingly pushing for nuclear war. Their main problem is that they don’t want to be blamed for starting such a war, so they are doing their best to provoke Putin into initiating it.
Putin, however, won’t need to use nuclear weapons, because he is already winning the war. Europe has sent most of its weapons to the Ukrainian black hole and is defenseless from a conventional point of view. Germany and Poland have no more armaments to send Ukraine. The UK never had much to send. Even the US has run out of many of its so-called wonder weapons. But when nuclear countries run out of conventional weapons, they start thinking about using their nuclear arsenal rather than admit defeat—and that is what makes them most dangerous.
Britain’s ex-PM Boris Johnson blathers on about Ukraine’s assured victory over Russia and how the Ukrainian army is the best in Europe. It is hard to say if he believes his own propaganda or if he is just continuing the propaganda, hoping someone will still believe him. Ukraine has lost more than 500,000 troops and is currently losing 50,000-60,000 troops per month. They are losing a few square miles of territory every day along the 1,500-mile battlefront.
Ukraine made a strategic blunder a month ago by taking its best battalions out of the Donbas and sending them far north to the Kursk region to invade some small villages, fields, and forests that had no military value. There they could send a half dozen troops into a forest and then claim control of the entire forest. In taking some territory in Russia proper, they scored a propaganda victory in the press, but this came at the expense of the Donbas front. Russia is now advancing in Donbas twice as fast as they used to advance.
Ukraine now has run out of reserves and are sending out “recruiters” to commandeer men off the street, throw them into a van, and send them to the battlefront. The men are now in hiding, as no one wants to go where the survival time is about four hours. These “recruits” are given a week or two of training and sent to the front, where they have little chance of survival.
With fewer and fewer reserves left, the soldiers on the battlefield must fight without letup, and this is exhausting Ukraine’s entire military force. The situation is dire, and this is what makes NATO leaders more and more desperate. A loss in Ukraine will make them lose prestige around the world. The destruction of US and NATO equipment will bring about a huge drop in arms sales around the world. BRICS will be strengthened, as nations will see it to be the future.
So because of NATO’s stupid Ukraine project, which was unnecessary from the start, this has turned out to be an existential threat to NATO. I find it hard to think that NATO could survive as a military alliance. Even the weakened European Union itself could break apart, as European nations join the BRICS to ensure their financial survival.
From a prophetic point of view, I do not see the Ukraine war escalating into a nuclear conflict. I think the nuclear conflict will be over the Zionist state and that it will be a regional war. Yet the Ukraine conflict is God’s way of overthrowing Mystery Babylon that is centered in the West. Russia is weakening Mystery Babylon daily, and all of us here are feeling the negative effects. We are drawing near to its collapse, and we should pray for a soft landing.
