We have taken the five ministry gifts (Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles) as an outline for the courses of Bible study in this School.
Our purpose is to equip those who are ministering with a knowledge of the Word, so that each will be more effective in fulfilling his or her calling.
Learn MoreBecause of the persistent sins of Jerusalem and Judah, God told the prophet Jeremiah to take an earthen jar to the valley of Ben-hinnom [Greek: gehenna], along with some elders and smash the jar, prophesying the permanent destruction of the city. Jeremiah 19:10, 11 prophesies the final destruction of Jerusalem,
10 Then you are to break the jar in the sight of the men who accompany you 11 and say to them, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘Just so will I break this people and this city, even as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot again be repaired;” and they will bury in Topheth [“burning”] because there is no other place for burial.”
The city was repaired in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah. The city was again destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. but again it was repaired. The day will come when Jeremiah’s prophecy will be fulfilled in its entirety. But how?
Isaiah 29:1-8 gives us a hint. It is a prophecy about “Ariel,” a poetic name for Jerusalem, “where David once camped” (Isaiah 29:1). Verse 6 tells us how:
6 From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise with whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire.
Such destruction did not occur when Babylon destroyed the city in 586 B.C., nor when the Romans destroyed it in 70 A.D. No earthquakes were recorded at those times, nor was there any sudden “tempest” (strong wind). This too is an end-time prophecy. This perfectly describes a nuclear event.
Isaiah 29:2, 3 makes it clear that God has raised up foreigners to destroy the city, and He claims to lead those armies against the city. Isaiah goes on to tell us in verses 7 and 8 that this foreign army will be like a dream in which a man feels hungry and thirsty, so he eats and drinks; but when he awakens from his sleep, he is still hungry and thirsty.
What does this mean? It means that even though they will conquer the land of Israel, they will be unable to occupy it. It will be uninhabitable. Note that God does not express any indignation or threat against the army that He has led into battle. The “enemies” in verse 5 are the enemies of Christ who have already been occupying Jerusalem—the Zionists themselves, who are God’s enemies by legal definition (Leviticus 26:40-42).
Here is an interesting video that discusses the US-Israeli plan to bomb Iran/Persia, which is the nation that overthrew Babylon in 537 B.C. I believe that Iran is the key nation that is again called to destroy the Babylonian head of the snake in Jerusalem. The video discusses the strong possibility that they will bomb the Dimona nuclear plant in Israel, scattering nuclear fallout everywhere, and making the entire land uninhabitable. (This begins at the 20:00 min. mark.)

Dr. Stephen Jones has been writing blog posts since 2005 on a variety of topics from Bible Studies to World News, and he has been writing books since 1992. Dr. Jones' most important writings came after God brought him back into the full-time ministry in 1991. It is here that all his earlier years of searching the Scriptures began to come into clear focus. He combines a knowledge of the Old and New Testaments with a personal revelation of God that began and developed during the "wilderness" period of his life, which he often refers to as God's True Bible College...
