Repentance in America--Part 2

When our founders wrote the Declaration of Independence in 1776, they declared that America was to be a nation under God's authority. They did so by saying,

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that all men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. . . . That to SECURE these rights, Governments are instituted among men."

All men did not EVOLVE into equality, nor were they endowed by GOVERNMENTS with these rights. In subsequent years the Supreme Court interpreted this to mean that governments were instituted, not to grant rights to people, but to defend them from anyone who might usurp those God-given rights. They ruled that governments could grant only privileges, and that only God could grant rights.

The Declaration of Independence is the document on whose authority the Constitution itself was written. As such, the Declaration stands ABOVE the Constitution. One cannot claim that because the Constitution says nothing about God that God is not in authority over America. We did not begin to become a secular nation until 1933, when Congress suspended the Constitution. But even then, I have seen no evidence that the Declaration of Independence was suspended. Yet the secular humanists have acted as if God either does not exist or is irrelevant.

When we look at American history, we can see that God has certainly taken an active interest in our governmental affairs and policies. The Declaration was, in effect, a covenant with God. We are bound by it as much as Israel was bound by their covenant with God at Mount Sinai. And if we do not obey God, He will hold us accountable.

Having said that, let me say that all the problems Israel had throughout its Old Testament history have manifested in America as well. The prophets make it clear that Israel cast aside the divine law and turned to other man-made gods. God put the nation into captivity many times, and when the people repented, God raised up deliverers (the "Judges"). When the next generation forsook God again, the nation was sold into its next captivity. And so on.

Not much has changed. If we want to know what is happening today in America and in other nations around the world, we must know biblical history. We must know the laws by which God judges the nations. When one compares the judgments of the law with the events of recent history, it becomes absolutely plain that all of God's judgments are being applied to America. It is silly to say that God's law was put away, when Lev. 26 and Deut. 28 are being fulfilled before our eyes. In fact, it is just as silly as the idea that life on earth evolved all by itself with no help from God.

I have written much about the iron yoke and the wooden yoke in my studies on the laws of tribulation. The iron yoke of Deut. 28:48 is a divine judgment involving war, destruction, captivity, and deportation to another land. A good example of this was the Babylonian captivity of Judah in 586 B.C. Though the law says nothing of a wooden yoke, Jeremiah tells us that a wooden yoke is a captivity in which the people are allowed to remain in their land while serving out their sentence for rebellion against God. (See Jer. 28:13.) All of Israel's captivities in the book of Judges were wooden-yoke judgments.

Skipping ahead to modern history, God was merciful to America in 1913-14 when He put America into a captivity under a wooden yoke. But to do that required the essential element of blindness upon the people. This is why modern Babylon is called "Mystery Babylon." The word "mystery" is the Greek word for "secret or hidden." God allowed certain bankers to perform their work in relative secrecy, and the Federal Reserve Act was perpetrated upon us by stealth.

While "conspiracy theorists" and "patriots" bemoan the fact that no one seems to want to know the truth, they do not understand that God blinded us in order to give us mercy. God was determined to put America into captivity to Babylon because the Church had cast aside the divine law. But if God had brought uniformed troops to our shores, with threats to take away our freedom to violate the divine law, we would have risen up as one man to repel the invasion.

In other words, we would have resisted God's judgment, and God would then have had to fight for our enemies and subdue us with great bloodshed and destruction. Many would probably have been sent to labor camps in Siberia and elsewhere. Rather than do that, God blinded us, and so Americans overwhelmingly accepted the divine judgment and submitted to Mystery Babylon.

It was a great plan! And it worked!

Many have chafed under this wooden yoke, not realizing that the alternative would have been much worse. Many Christian patriots have worked to remove this wooden yoke, thinking that God wants us to be free. Yes, God certainly does want us to be free--just as much as He wanted Israel to be free in ancient times. But freedom is conditional upon obedience to God. When we are disobedient, God has every right to remove our freedoms. That is the great lesson of Scripture.

The story of Jeremiah is a good example of how people refuse to subordinate their patriotism to the sovereignty of God over their nation. They thought they could violate the law with immunity (Jer. 7:9, 10). So when divine judgment was decreed, they rejected the word of the Lord. When Jeremiah advised them to submit to the wooden yoke, the prophet Hananiah broke the yoke (Jer. 28:10). In so doing, the people took upon themselves the heavier yoke of iron, and they were soon deported to a foreign land.

When we look at the biblical example, we can only marvel at the wisdom of God in creating a secret Babylon and blinding our eyes to its very presence.

But we are now coming to the end of our sentence. The world was given into the hands of Babylon for 70 years, but they have refused to let go of their power, even as the old Babylon refused (Jer. 50:33). For this reason, God is now bringing judgment upon Babylon itself for going beyond its divine mandate. Babylon's time can be measured either from 1913-14 or from 1933. Their time began to end as early as 1983 (which, by the Hezekiah Factor, was actually 1993). Certainly, though, Babylon's time fully ended in 2003, which was 70 years after 1933.

I received the revelation of this as early as 1981, when I thought the captivity would end in 1983-84. I learned the Hezekiah Factor years in October of 1994, and then realized that 1993 was like 1983. We had been led to begin the Jubilee Prayer Campaign in November of 1993. It was a 13-year battle ("Jericho") that ended in October of 2006.

That brings us to the present time, as I wrote earlier.

President Bush went into the territory of old Babylon in 2003 and overthrew the statue of Nebuchadnezzar's successor on April 9, 2003. He says that he ordered the invasion of both Afghanistan and Iraq because God told him to do so. See:

I have no doubt that God did indeed tell him to do so, but not for reasons that he is aware of. He did not know that he was setting the pattern for the overthrow of Mystery Babylon by overthrowing its carnal type in Iraq. Nor was he aware that the war itself was an instrument of divine judgment and pressure upon us as a nation that will ultimately open our eyes and cause us to repent for our own lawlessness.

As Pogo once said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us." The real "axis of evil" that God is overthrowing is not as distant as we would like to think.
