Splits in the EU and NATO

The US-EU sanctions imposed upon Russia last March were supposed to crash Russia’s economy. That policy backfired immensely, because oil prices doubled, so that Russia only needed to sell half its oil to maintain its revenue. At the same time, Russia found new markets in Asia, and the EU discovered that they had cut off the lifeblood (oil and gas) to run their economies. Instead of switching policy and admitting that they failed, they tried to double down on their bets, only to end up destroying their economies.

Hit especially hard was the German economy, where we are now seeing huge companies planning to move to China or the US in order to stay alive. The propaganda that Russia will implode any day now is no longer credible. No one but the fully misinformed now believes that Russia is running out of missiles and ammunition, as was fed to us last March. Instead, it is the West that is running low on military hardware after sending huge quantities to the munitions graveyard in Ukraine.

Finally, a split among EU members has arisen over the issue of capping the price of oil, because Germany’s chancellor Olaf Scholz has set preconditions that are “impossible” to meet, according to Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the EU’s commission.

It has been decades since the West had a free market without government manipulation, but setting a price cap has proved to be over the top for Olaf Scholz. He, of course, understands that setting a price cap only means that Europe will refuse to pay the market price for oil and gas. But what about the sellers? Would they not simply sell their energy products to Asian buyers who will pay the market price?

It takes two to make a deal. What would happen if oil-producing countries simply boycott the European market? The US would love to see that happen, because not only would there be another big rise in price, but the US oil companies could then sell their oil and gas to the Europeans at even higher prices than seen today.

Europeans need to wake up to what the US government is doing to them before they become totally enslaved to the US government.

Yet since Olaf Scholz visited China last week, it seems that he has had an epiphany. Some are saying that Scholz has already made a secret deal with Russia and is moving in that direction. I have no way of knowing, of course, but this directional shift seems to support that idea. Perhaps Sholz has finally realized that the US is not Europe’s friend but its aspiring slave master.

ANKARA, November 10. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s readiness for negotiations with Russia is indicative of a split in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, according to Baris Doster, a columnist for Turkey’s opposition Cumhuriyet newspaper.

"Finally, something that was expected happened. As key US media outlets have been reporting for several days already, US pressure on Ukraine in order to make it return to negotiations with Russia produced results. Ukraine’s President Zelensky said that he was open to talks with Russia and that he was setting forth several conditions for it. Not only does this statement give an idea of Ukraine’s situation on the frontline but it also points to a schism within the North Atlantic Alliance," the journalist wrote.

According to him, "the US does not have such influence on its allies as before and is not effective in containing its adversaries and rivals." "The war between Ukraine and Russia has yet again demonstrated this. Germany intends to improve relations with Russia and China, despite US’ objections…

Let’s not forget that the Netherlands lifted sanctions against Russia," the columnist added.

The Netherlands is walking back on many of their sanctions on Russia by issuing 91 new waivers against Russian companies. Technically, the sanctions are still in place, but they are now watered down to a minimum.

The Dutch government has issued 91 waivers from sanctions against Russia since the country invaded Ukraine late in February, RTL Nieuws reports after talking to the Ministries. The ministries shielded the names of the companies involved, the value of transactions which were exempted, and the business sectors concerned, RTL Nieuws reported…

The Ministry of Finance granted 13 additional waivers related to frozen assets or goods that fall under the sanctions regime.

The Ministry for Climate and Energy, which falls under Economic Affairs, issued 25 waivers for Dutch organizations to still get energy from former Gazprom companies.

Because Ukraine was so important to the West as a money-laundering hub (as well as a human trafficking hub), they could not afford to allow Russia to get its hands on the evidence. That, I believe, is the real reason why Ukraine is so essential to them—not because they care about the Ukrainian people.

Remember just a few years ago when the sons of congressmen and senators were on the boards of Ukrainian energy companies? Remember how Hunter Biden was on the board of Burisma, the Ukrainian energy giant—even though Hunter knew nothing about the energy business?

That’s why the US government is concerned about Ukraine. They made the mistake of trying to make Ukraine a NATO outpost, even though they had promised in 1991 not to move NATO one inch closer to Russia. The US government has never been good at keeping its promises or treaties. Just ask any Native American.

A man is only as good as his word. A government is only as good as its word, too. My opinion is based on God’s word. See 2 Samuel 21:1, 2. More broadly, this principle is seen in the failure of the Old Covenant, where men failed to live up to their word or vow in Exodus 19:8. Just as we should have no confidence in the flesh (i.e., in the will of man), so also should we have little or no confidence in fleshly governments that cannot keep the word.
