Ancient Israel turned from its calling as the Kingdom of God to adopting the religious and governmental practices of foreign gods. Judah was not as openly blatant in its idolatry, because the temple was located in its capital, Jerusalem; so they pretended to worship Yahweh while practicing the principles of other gods.
In the end, both Israel and Judah were cast out of the land, having broken the covenant of Mount Sinai. God then empowered beast empires to bring judgment against them, and this ultimately affected the entire world as well. Legally speaking, God transferred the Dominion Mandate from Judah to Babylon, making Babylon responsible to fulfill the terms of this Mandate. (The Chinese call it the Mandate from Heaven.) When Babylon failed after 70 years, God empowered Persia to overthrow Babylon.
Persia too failed to fulfill the responsibilities of the Dominion Mandate, so the authority was passed to the Grecian Empire, and later to the Roman Empire. All of these empires desired power, not realizing that they did not enjoy true power but only authority (from God). All authority comes with an equal level of responsibility before God. Yet the beast empires remained ignorant of this, thinking only of accumulating more territory and world power, and believing that their empire would last forever.
If you read the descriptions of each “beast” empire in Daniel 7, you quickly see that they are beasts of prey, each believing that the people exist for the benefit of the state. By contrast, the Kingdom of God, as established by the Abrahamic covenant, seeks to be a blessing to all nations (Genesis 22:18). The New Testament interprets this in terms of Christ’s ministry, where He “went about doing good” (Acts 10:38). He sought to bless the people, not to dominate them. His right to hold the Dominion Mandate remained in the background, while He set about fulfilling the responsibilities of that divine authority.
Jesus showed us by example that the Kingdom of God was to be ruled by love, not by power. Better yet, the Kingdom was to be ruled and sustained by the power of Love, not military power. The King did not ask that men be willing to die for the state; the King was willing to die for the people. That is the crux of the matter. It is the foundational difference between Kingdom government and beast empires.
Overcomers are those who have the same perspective of government that Jesus has. Overcomers are called to be extensions of His throne, to judge the world as He would judge. Unfortunately, the majority of Christians simply do not understand this. They have adopted the beast mentality of the state. Hence, the state is like a leader of a pack of wolves that see others as food.
After the Roman Empire fell in 476 A.D., the Dominion Mandate was bequeathed to the “little horn,” an extension of Rome, one Jubilee cycle later in 526 A.D. with the rise of Emperor Justinian. He was the one who changed time and laws—that is, he changed the Roman calendar and then revised the entire Roman law system to reflect Church law.
This essentially brought the Dominion Mandate to the Church, but by this time, the Church (as an institution) had become carnally minded. It had adopted the same political mechanisms that had characterized all of the earlier empires. By holding the Dominion Mandate, the Church was responsible to fulfill the responsibilities of the Kingdom of God, but it failed miserably.
Skipping over a lot of history, we come now to the modern era. Various “Christian” nations have come to the forefront in recent centuries to take the lead in implementing the teachings of Christ. Portugal dominated in the 1400’s; Spain in the 1500’s; the Dutch in the late 1500’s into the early 1600’s; Britain in the 1700’s and 1800’s. In the early 1900’s, the British Empire gave up its mandate to the USA, which became powerful through the Federal Reserve Bank (1913-1914). The two world wars (1914-1918 and 1939-1945) fully established this transfer of power.
The American Empire, however, was challenged by the Soviet Union for most of the 20th century. When the Soviet Union finally collapsed in 1991, America became the “sole superpower” in the world and thus assumed full responsibility for the Dominion Mandate. But America too had a beast mentality, seeking to dominate world markets. Policy makers in the early 1990’s made it clear that its prime directive was to destroy all competitors in order to remain the sole superpower.
Russia was a mess; China was still young and weak. Japan had slipped into its economic stagnation after peaking in late December of 1989. America then became King of the Hill, a position which they then had to defend from all competitors. Lord Hastings Lionel Ismay, NATO’s first secretary-general, who served from 1952 to 1957 had a famous formulation that said NATO was created “to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down.”
After 1991 the Soviet Union was splintered, and most of the Soviet states became independent. What was left was no longer a “union” of 14 Socialist States but a single nation called The Russian Federation. But the West was not content with this breakup. Since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Western policy shifted toward breaking up the new Russian Federation into six separate countries that could be dominated by the West and exploited for its natural resources.
So instead of helping Russia get back on its feet and align with Europe, they created more chaos in Russia (under Boris Yeltsin) and refused to allow Russia to become a European country. Finally, in the year 2000, Vladimir Putin was elected president. Just before he won the election, in early March 2000, Putin first publicly suggested that Russia could join NATO. The key event was a BBC interview with Sir David Frost, recorded on February 29, 2000, and broadcast on March 5, 2000—the day before the election.
When Frost asked whether Russia might join NATO, Putin replied: “Why not? Why not? I do not rule out such a possibility... if Russia's interests will be reckoned with, if it will be an equal partner.”
He also said: “Russia is a part of European culture... I imagine NATO as an enemy only with difficulty.” His remarks drew immediate international attention because they contrasted sharply with the traditional Russian view of NATO as an adversary.
It seems that Putin was unaware at the time that the US had decided to break up Russia, not build them up, and certainly not to help them join NATO. So the opportunity for peace was lost, and Russia was forced to turn East. It made peace with China and became an Asian country.
This was the moment when the “kings from the east” began to arise to fulfill the prophecy in Revelation 16:12 in preparation for the fall of Mystery Babylon. In the time of Daniel, the kings from the east were Cyrus the Persian and Darius the Mede. These were the kings who set the prophetic pattern for the overthrow of Mystery Babylon in our time.
Meanwhile, NATO continued to expand toward Russia with the purpose of threatening Russia with military conquest. Finally, the decision was made to have Ukraine join NATO, right on Russia’s border, and to arm it with nuclear weapons. First on February 22, 2014 the US State Department (led by Victoria Nuland was given a $5 billion budget) fomented a coup in Ukraine, which succeeded in installing a western puppet government that immediately began to threaten all Russian-speaking citizens of Ukraine.
Keep in mind that during the Soviet era, many Russians had moved to Ukraine, especially to the eastern portion along with Crimea. So Russia retaliated by assisting the people of Crimea in holding a referendum on March 16, 2014 to join the Russian Federation. It passed with 96.77% of the vote, but the West was incensed over this.
This was the real beginning of the war in Ukraine. Peace treaties were signed in 2014 and again in 2015, but (as later European politicians admitted), these treaties were signed only to buy time to rearm and train the Ukrainian army against Russia. Their word was not their bond; they thought that lies are a wartime virtue and that treaties can be broken without consequence. They were unaware of the story of Joshua’s covenant with the Gibeonites.
Europe continued to train up the Ukrainian army until 2022, when they amassed an army to invade the breakaway provinces that had declared their independence. That was when Russia intervened militarily, and the conflict has continued to the present time.
It is plain that China and Russia are the two main “kings from the east” who are called to overthrow the New World Order of Mystery Babylon. As they gain strength, and as the West declines, more and more nations—especially in Asia—are joining this coalition. Most notably, we see Iran, which is modern Persia. This is hardly a surprise, given the prophetic role of Cyrus in Isaiah 44 and 45, where the prophet names Cyrus two centuries before he was even born.
In recent months we now see Pakistan playing a prominent role in the region, as they attempt to broker a ceasefire or perhaps even a peace treaty. Pakistan even volunteered to be the nuclear umbrella to guarantee peace for the entire region and to neutralize the Israeli nuclear threat.
Many in the Church today totally misunderstand this prophecy, teaching that the kings from the east are a threat to be fought against, instead of seeing them as liberators via the Edict of Cyrus. They have bought into the idea that Russia and China are God’s enemies that we must fight, when, in fact, God has raised them up to destroy the final manifestations of the beast empires, so that the Kingdom of God can replace Mystery Babylon for the next thousand years.
This misunderstanding has caused many Christians to believe that Donald Trump is Cyrus. A silver Trump–Cyrus half-shekel was initiated jointly by the nascent Sanhedrin and the Mikdash (Temple) Educational Center (also called the Mikdash Educational Center) in Jerusalem. It was announced in February 2018 following President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Trump seems to be the "Cyrus" of the Zionists, who expect him to facilitate the building of a “third temple” on the Temple Mount and reestablish animal sacrifices.
To me, this is the main competitor to the Kingdom of God. Will the counterfeit state of “Israel” (actually, Edom) be given the Dominion Mandate in the Age to come? Will the Old Covenant with its violent methods establish the Kingdom, as Zionists believe? Or will the Kingdom of God be based on New Covenant principles? Knowing the difference will give you a biblical perspective and determine which side you will support.
